Coping with smoking cessation Did you know that: - Over 120,000 people die each year from smoking-related diseases
- 90% of cancers are caused by tobacco smoke
- Smoking can cause cancer in many areas of the body, including the oral/nasal cavities, the pharynx, larynx, oesophagus, pancreas, kidneys, uterine cervix and many more
- A non-smokers risk of lung cancer is increased by 20-30% if they lived with a smoker, or 16-19% if they were exposed to smoke whilst at work?
(Quoted by Cancer Research UK - http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/cancerstats/types/lung/smoking/ ) According to the New Scientist Report in the Scientific Journal, hypnosis is the most effective way of kicking the habit. People are aware of the effects of smoking on their bodies but, due to it's habitual nature, find it difficult to give up. If you have a strong desire to succeed, then hypnotherapy is for you! Hypnosis will assist in re-connecting the neural pathways within the brain which were present before you ever smoked that first cigarette. So, in fact, you are not looking to learn a new behaviour, just simply to revert to an old pattern of thinking. It is important that we respect our bodies and take note when they are trying to tell us something. Our bodies communicate with us via symptoms. For example, wheezing/coughing etc is an indication that smoke is a poison which our bodies are rejecting (you would probably be surprised if you knew exactly what was actually in a cigarette!). We all owe it to ourselves to protect and respect our bodies in order to lead a long and happy life, engaging with all of the things that we love. A "Smoking Cessation" session lasts for between one and a half to two hours. Within this session you will receive advice and guidance in relation to smoking cessation and a hypnotherapy session. Following the session, support is provided if required. This will be discussed during the session.
